Social Emotional and Mental Health

Social, Emotional and Mental Health- What do we provide? 

Universal Provision – All children have access to:

 

  • a safe and secure environment, including safe spaces, a focus on accessibility and sensory input
  • positive relationships and a sense of belonging
  • structures, routines and rituals supported by visuals
  • opportunities to express their thoughts and feelings including the school council
  • PSHE/RSE as part of their curriculum
  • a range of rewards to celebrate achievements e.g house points, book of achievement, star of the week
  • support and celebration of independence
  • a range of out of classroom, off-site learning opportunities and extra curricula activities
  • engaging and relevant lessons
  • sensory diets/movement breaks
  • a range of strategies and resources to help support SEMH e.g. exit cards
  • a range of interventions such as Lego Club, Social Skills Groups
  • Thrive input
  • staff trained in Proact Scip
  • Zones of Regulation
  • clear expectations
  • regular opportunities for exercise e.g. ‘Run a Mile’
  • collaborative working with their teacher and parents
  • transitional support e.g.  starting school, leaving parents in the mornings 
  • staff that are trained in relevant issues including attachment, CIN, VSK
  • a lunch time teacher, TAs and lunch clubs with a focus on friendships and play skills
  • activities designed and implemented by NELFT Emotional Well-Being Team
  • a range of significant days

 

School policies and procedures will run alongside (including the Behaviour Policy) as well as quality first teaching and reasonable adjustments as stated in the Mainstream Core Standards

 

Targeted Provision – All children have access to: (should they require it)

 

  • the Engagement Project – including out of classroom/off-site opportunities
  • interventions as stated in provision maps
  • observations and assessment of needs by the relevant specialists/with the relevant tools
  • personalised outcomes/targets as stated in Personalised Plans
  • personalised resources e.g. laptop, visuals, task boards
  • a range of appropriate services e.g. referrals to NELFT Emotional Well-Being Team
  • a play therapist or counsellor
  • a personalised Support Plan

 

Specialised Provision – For those that require it, there is access to:

 

  • a personalised time-table
  • smaller class group
  • access to our SRP
  • higher staffing ratios
  • an EHCP and Provision Plan
  • a range of appropriate services
  • TA supported birthday parties
