Year 2

Dear parents/carers,

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your children to Year 2. Throughout the year we will use the Year group website page to share the children's learning journey with you. Please check for regular updates!

The children will need their named indoor PE kits (blue shorts, white T-shirt, plimsolls) on their  PE days (Polar Bear - Tuesday, Lion - Wednesday and Llama - Thursday). Please can we ask that all long hair is tied up and earrings are removed or covered with earring tape on PE days which needs to be provided from home. The children will leave their PE bags on their pegs and change in class before their PE lesson.

Fruit will continue to be  provided for morning play or alternatively the children can bring in their own fruit or vegetable based snack, no chocolate or sweets please.

Please send you child in each day with a fresh drinks bottle (water or squash) which can be refilled with water during the day if they run out.

We look forward to working with you to enable your child to achieve their full potential and have a successful year in Year 2.

Kind Regards

Mrs Hogben, Mrs Prickett, Mrs Boxell & Miss Kruza

Polar Bear: Mrs Boxell & Mrs Kruza, Mrs Mears & Mrs Yarwood.

Llama: Miss Prickett & Mrs Clarke.

Lion: Mrs Hogben, Mrs Adams & Mrs Smurthwaite.

We are planning a trip to Wingham Wildlife Park on Tuesday 28 September 2021 to support our learning this term in Literacy and ICT. We hope to have a fun-packed day around the park. We plan to leave school at 9.00am, travelling by coach and will return in time for normal collection from the school.

There are two costing options for the trip:

£7.00 if your child has a current Wingham Wildlife Pass (This must be brought with them on the day).

£13.00 if your child does not have a current Wingham Wildlife Pass.

This is a voluntary payment and no child will be omitted. However, the trip cannot go ahead if we do not receive a large proportion of the cost. ParentPay is our preferred payment method, you will have previously received an activation letter, however if you are unable to find this information please contact the Mayfield office for a new copy.

Please find the link to the ParentPay website:

On the day please ensure that your child wears their school uniform and sensible shoes and brings a waterproof jacket/has applied sun cream. They will also need to bring a packed lunch (no sweets or chocolate) and plenty to drink (not fizzy). If you’re entitled to a free school dinner and would like a school packed lunch please let us know beforehand and one will be made up for you by the kitchen.
