STLS
The Specialist Teaching and Learning Service for the Dover District (Dover, Deal and Sandwich) is made up of Specialist Teachers, based at Elms School, and staff from the District’s Specialist provisions. The STLS aims to advise and support Early Years settings and main stream schools to build the capacity, and confidence to deliver high quality provision and inclusive practice for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
We feel that both pupil and parent voice and participation is vital to ensuring successful outcomes for all parties, and are central to our work at all stages.
Our Team is made up of 6 Specialist Teachers (Tracey, Angie, Sam, Julia, Sarah and Stef), Sean, who is our Inclusion Manager and 3 admin staff (Sophie, Sarah and Rachel)
Parent Support
Coffee Mornings- Our Specialist Support Worker runs a coffee morning once a term and invites all parents/guardians of children with SEND. Please see our Term 1 leaflet and the further Term leaflets will be uploaded very soon.
STLS Clinics- Our Specialist Teachers hold clinics for 1:1 support and advice for parents/guardians of children with SEND. We hold an SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health) clinic once every term and a C&I/C&L (Communication & Interaction/Cognition & Learning) clinic once every other term. These are very overbooked clinics, so please get in touch should you wish to book. The flyers have all our details on.
Resources- On our website we have a Resources page. Throughout the sub-headings are lots of useful resources for parents/guardians. Some are aimed towards staff within schools, but there is lots of home advice within them, so please do take a look. The website is- https://doverstls.co.uk/resources/
