Bluebird

Welcome to Bluebird Class

In Bluebird class we believe that forming meaningful, trusting and lasting relationships are the key to success.

We all participate in a sensory based curriculum following individual timetables in order to make progress in our own ways. Our classroom is known for being full of yoga balls, tunnels, tents, spinners and trampettes; this is because we use this equipment to help us with our learning and it is good fun too!

The adults in Bluebird Class are:

Teachers: Jordi Parsons

Teaching assistants - Paul, Danielle, Saskia, Rachael, Olga, Annalise and Sophie.

Term 1-2 Class based learning

In term 1, Bluebird class were learning about the "Zones of regulation" curriculum. The children took part in a range of activities that taught them about their emotions and ways to begin to regulate them. These activities included emotion sorting, our "Colour Monster" sensory story and our "emotion jars" art activity.

In term 2, we have been learning about the different festivals and celebrations that happen between October and December, including Halloween, firework night, Diwali and Christmas. They have been enjoying an autumn and sensory stories, decorating toffee apples, baking Christmas gingerbread and a range of sensory and exploratory art activities.

Bluebird off-site learning

In Bluebird class we also engage in a range of off-site learning opportunities. These include trips to different parks, shops and spaces in nature. We also take part in hydro pool sessions and forest school sessions on the Mayfield site. These experiences provide additional learning opportunities for transitioning to new environments, engaging with the wider world and an opportunity to generalise our communication skills.
