Welcome to Year 6!

 

Year 6 is a very special year, filled with special responsibilities, a residential trip and many exciting ways to develop and nurture confidence (like the school play and talent show).  It is a stepping stone to secondary school and we structure our curriculum and homework schedule to prepare our pupils for the demands of the changes which lay ahead.  

 

Terms 1 & 2 2025

 

English: Grammarsaurus- building foundations for the year ahead

 

Reading: Daily fluency sessions studying key texts and poems

              Individual reading    

             Class story - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone

 

Topic: History big question: "Why do we learn about the Tudors?"

Geography big question: "How is climate change affecting our world?"

 

Science: Living things and their Habitats

             Light and Renewable Energy

 

Music: Harry Potter Film series - film music.  Digital music and notation
