Phew!

What a turbulent week, filled with uncertainty and added pressure, but we’ve made it to the weekend!  For those learning from home, we have appreciated your patience and understanding.

Our aim is to try to keep learning for Term3 the same as what it would have been in school and the children that are in school will be learning the same and those at home. Although the sequence of lesson maybe different.

Home Learning:

On the class page you will weekly folders containing home learning activities. It is suggested that children complete an English and Maths lessons daily and one other lesson, in addition to reading and TT Rockstars. To fill their time they can also complete fitness challenges and choose activities from the subject tabs below the home learning folders. Pre-recorded teaching videos are provided for maths, children need to pause when asked to, so that they can practise each skill. We will also provide answers so that any misunderstandings can be spotted immediately.  Teaching videos from Oak Academy will also be used as well as PowerPoints and video links when appropriate.

We understand that there are families who have limited screen access; please let us know if you need any help, cannot access Purple Mash or the website, or would find some paper packs helpful. Paper packs available for collection, again if you email us and let us know when you are coming in to pick one up we can make sure one is available at the office for you.

Feel free to use Oak National Academy, BBC Bitesize, CBBC at your own leisure if your child finds a subject / unit of interest. The link for reading quizzes can also be found under the reading tab on the class page.
In week three we will looking at the book Treason by Berlie Doherty the children will ideally need a copy of this book. If you are able to get a copy yourselves that would be great, if not we have ordered a set which, will be delivered soon and you can pick a copy up from the school office when they arrive. For those of you that are shielding or isolating please email us and we can arrange a way of getting a copy to you.

We would like the children to set up their own blog on Purplemash. This is where they can share any work that they complete and share any activities that they do at home. These instructions can be found in the computing subject tab on our class page and also at the bottom of this information.

Please encourage your child to stay in touch and ask any questions through their blog, hopefully this time of home-learning should go smoothly.

We thank-you for your continued support, the Year 5 team  have children learning from home too; we understand the added demands this time brings.  All we can do is our best.

Best wishes,

Mr Lowrey and Mrs Tierney
