The school's Buster Reading scheme will start again this week where we encourage children to read for pleasure. In case you forgot, Year 5 children should be reading for a minimum of 20 minutes. Each week, their totals are taken and recorded as a class group and collectively as a school; prizes are awarded to schools who accrue the most points.
Points aside, we know from research that reading for an extended time from a text of their own choosing can have an impact on a child’s academic progress. Reading is the most important and fundamental activity which impacts on our future life chances.
Please email us on our class emails should you have any questions?
