This term, we have been using the book 'Where the Wild Things Are' and have had lots of fun exploring musical instruments, puppets, floating and sinking and the world around us. We have also been working on our listening skills with some early phonic activities and our understanding of big, medium and small as well as some addition!
Have a look at the wonderful things we have done this term!
This term, Meerkats have been using the book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' as a basis for our learning. We have been listening and reading the book in various different ways, from reading the pages, to acting it out and even watching a Makaton version and a symbol version on the screen. We have then based our focused activities on the book and have learnt all about under and over, big and small and even different kinds of bears!
We have all had so much fun this term using the story of 'Were Going on a Bear Hunt' and we have also begun playing turn taking games every afternoon so we are building up our turn taking skills, social skills and grouping skills.

This term, we have been using a book by Zehra Hicks (who came to visit us before Christmas) called Cheeky Monkey. We have learnt lots about monkey's and done some fun activities based on this topic! We have even learnt a little bit about Chinese New Year and spoke about how this is the year of the tiger, so we made lots of orange and black stripes.
Meerkats have spent a lot of time this term building up relationships, getting to know the routine and enjoying being at a new school. We love accessing all areas of the EYFS in a fun, exciting way, and we cannot wait for the adventure Next Term brings!
It is a big term for Meerkats! We have moved into our new classroom and are meeting all of our new friends and the new grown ups who will help us.
As it is a new room, new staff and new children, we are going to spend the upcoming term getting settled into the class, knowing the routines and having fun being at school.
We will also be putting a good morning routine into practice where we will say good morning to each child and adult using Makaton as a way to learn each others names. We will also be learning the days of the week and talking lots about the weather, as we are able to use our new outside area to explore the different weathers we get during the upcoming months.
Our topic for term two is festivals and celebrations. We have learnt about:
We have also had lots of special visits this term!
An author called Zehra Hicks came to read us her stories Pug Hug and Cheeky Monkey.
We also had a firefighter come to see us and let us try on their uniform! It was very big, very heavy and very fun!
Welcome to Term One! This term we have focused on getting to know each other, settling in to our school and exploring our new environment. We have now settled into our routine, enjoy being both inside and outside and love to play together!
