Your final week and a bit of primary school!

Please use these 7 days to finish off any tasks that you haven't completed yet. It is really important to take time to go through the transition activities and watch the BBC bitesize videos to prepare you for Secondary School. There are also some new maths tasks below in the 'maths week 6' folder.

As well as finishing off, here are some other fun activities that we will be doing in school. Some you can do on your own while others you'll need to do with your family!

1) mini sports day events. Please email or send us a message on your blog to let us know the distances of your throws and jumps. Here are the events that we will be doing:

  • 2 feet to 2 feet jump (from standing still)
  • hop, skip and jump
  • run up and jump (one foot on take off and land on 2 feet)

  • seated overhead football throw
  • javelin-style throw (with a ball)
  • underarm throw

  • sprint
  • skip through hoop race
  • skipping race

2) Pirate game (you will need to play this with your whole family).

3) Escape room style games - 'A pirate's problem' (easy) and 'Global Gateway' (medium) Try not to look at the hints unless you really need to!

4) Create a flextangle!
5) Taskmaster game
Please do keep in touch! We know a few of you have arranged to come and collect your things (which may include awards for some of you!). Please email us if you haven't done so yet. If we don't manage to see you, we hope you all have a great summer and we wish you all the best as you start your journey of secondary school.

End of Year Dance compilation Video - The Boris remix!

Home learners - if you would like to be included in the Year 6 fun dance video to celebrate the end of the year, please get your parent to video you dancing for about 16 counts (2 bars of 8) and send to leopard@whitfield.kent.sch.uk by MONDAY 29th June.

Silly dancing, proper dance moves and fancy dress - the choice is yours!  Please dance to the fast music after all the talking.  Please email your class teacher if you need more details.

The music is below:

Gran: Life’s full of twists and turns, Stan, and you never know what’s around the corner.

But you’re not on your own. You’ve got us to help you.

And we’ll be with you - every step of the way! Your life is a journey that you have to make.

(Spoken) Are you listening, Stan?

Adventure awaiting you in every step you take.

(Spoken) Oh, that was scary!

But nobody travels all alone.

(Spoken) No they don’t, Stan!

When you have a friend to call your own!

(Shouted) We’ll be with you!

All: Every step of the way, every night, every day.

You’ll find me right beside you!

Every step of the way, under blue sky or grey,

No matter what betides you! We can weather the storm together,

So by your side I’ll stay,

Just a heartbeat away, every step of the way!

The road can be rocky on the path ahead.

You stumble and tumble, but remember what I said.

For I’m gonna be there when you call, And I’m gonna catch you when you fall!

Every step of the way, every night, every day

You’ll find me right beside you!

Every step of the way, under blue sky or grey,

No matter what betides you!

We can weather the storm together,

So by your side I’ll stay,

Just a heartbeat away, every step of the way!

We’ll be with you!

Every step of the way, every night, every day,

You’ll find me right beside you!

Every step of the way, under blue sky or grey,

No matter what betides you!

We can weather the storm together

So by your side I’ll stay,

Just a heartbeat away, every step of the way....

Home learning will be a little different from now on.  Your teachers will be in school full-time and so they will not be able to give the same level of feedback through Purple Mash anymore.  Also, we would like you to experience similar learning opportunities as the children who are returning to school (although there will be a few tasks still set on Purple Mash).  We really need you to stay in contact through the blogs (sharing section on Purple Mash), both personal ones and the new 'Home Learner Contact' blog we have set up.

Staying in contact with your classmates:  Every TUESDAY and FRIDAY afternoon, we will log into Purple Mash as a class and read any messages or questions you would like to leave us.  We will read these together on the big screen and reply, as well as add photos so you can keep up to date with what is happening in school.  We would love to see your photos too.  It is important that we all stay connected, even if we are not all in the same classroom anymore.  Please send your messages by 2.30pm on those days.

To find 'Blogs' go to 'Sharing'. To message your class, or to look at messages, go to 'Shared Blogs'. To send messages or pictures of learning just to your teachers, go to 'My Blogs'.

Here is an example timetable which we will now be following in school, if you would like to do the same at home:

For all subject areas, except Maths, Art and English, we will upload our plans which cover a series of weeks - work on them at your own pace.  Maths, Art and  English plans will be uploaded weekly.

We will start learning some songs and dances for a mini production we will be performing and videoing and would love for you to take part virtually too!  More details to follow soon.

Here is the 1st song we would like you to learn - 'All the World's a Stage' from Shakespeare Rocks the musical.
