Children have been reminded again of the reading book protocol for Year 3. They are to complete their reading quizzes in the morning when they have finished a book. After this, they must then record their score, change their book and write the new title in their reading records ready to take home.
Wednesday 30th October
Our science topic is 'Rocks and Soil'. We have created a worm farm to support our learning and understanding of compost and soil. The class had great fun working together to create layers of soil, compost and sand to highlight the worms movements through the earth, they collected leaves and grass to create a natural habitat and some even enjoyed moving the worms into their new environment!
Tuesday 29th October
Today in Literacy the children had to discuss the importance of instructions. They then had to read and follow a set of written instructions in order to create their very own wooly mammoth. The results were fantastic! We will be following this task by identifying the key features of successful instructions so that children can eventually write their own.
Tuesday 1st October - Kent Life Museum
Year 3 had a fun and very educational school trip, despite the rain! We were able to take part in a variety of workshops covering areas of the Stone Age, such as weapons, making grains and meeting a tribe member. Each child came away with a new Stone Age name given to them by the tribe member....ask them!
