Wednesday 1st April - Home Learning Day 8
Here's a quick word search to keep you busy - first one to find all the words wins a prize! (update: well done to all of you who realised that this was an April Fool joke!)
This would have been our last day of Term 4 with a Reading Party this after, so if you have been keeping up with your reading, then make sure you treat yourself later!
We are really proud with the way you have been handling home learning and please keep up the good work. After the Easter holidays, we will hopefully set up a more structured way for you to complete your learning at home, to ensure you maintain structure to your day and cover some of the important aspects of the Year 6 curriculum, which will prepare you for Secondary School.
If you are reading this, please remind your friends that they should visit this page daily after the Easter Holidays and then complete the tasks set on Purple Mash. Easter homework answers will be posted on here too.
Tuesday 31st March - Home Learning Day 7
Wow what a lovely day! Enjoy your daily walk (if you are having one) today. A new task has been added to Purple Mash. It's a photo sheet for you to add 2 photos to let us know what you have been up to in week 2 of home learning, or it can include any activities you got up to in the Easter break.
Read Theory - winners for last week (Monday 23rd to Sunday 29th March)
Leopards: 1st Turquoiseblue
3rd Dolphin Girl
Owls: 1st Caitlin
Owls are just in the lead with 6 children taking quizzes, but Leopards are close behind with 5. Who will be the winners next week?
Today's extra task is to watch TOP CLASS on CBBC and try to play along. You can pause the video if you need longer to answer!
Top Class Singlegate v Pipworth
Monday 30th March - Home Learning Day 6
We hope you have had a lovely weekend and have managed to stay safe indoors or in your garden. There are only 3 days left of home school and then the official Easter Holidays begin on Thursday - then your Easter 10 for 10 maths and Easter Grammar booklets can begin! We will be revealing the answers after the holidays, so keep your eyes open for the link on here. Until then the activities in the Home Learning folder should be keeping you busy. Plus keep checking Purple Mash for new activities. Well done to the first 5 who have scored on Monster Mash: Poppy, Joseph, Pheobe, Jake D and Alfie!
REMEMBER you can now do AR reading quizzes at home, the link is on the Day 4 update below.
If you are in contact with other children in Year 6, please can you remind them to keep in touch via the postcards in Purple Mash, as well as looking on our year 6 page at the end of every day - we miss you all!
This week try these kindness challenges:
BREAKING NEWS!! Do you remember the letters you sent to McDonalds about their plasic toys in Happy Meals? We ended up signing a petition started by 2 young school girls via Change.org. Well they have just responded! What are your thoughts?
McDonald’s UK & Ireland’s response
McDonald’s UK & Ireland
27 MAR 2020 — Dear supporters of this petition,
Listening to our customers is at the core of what we do, so seeing so many people involved with this campaign and hearing your thoughts has been hugely encouraging as we continue our sustainability journey.
At McDonald’s, we too share your passion and are committed to using our scale for good.
We are delighted to share with you that from 2021, every Happy Meal will only include soft toys, sustainable paper-based gifts or books as we work to find sustainable alternatives to hard plastic. The move will eliminate over 3,000 metric tons of non-sustainable plastic, whilst continuing to give McDonald’s customers the Happy Meal they know and love. This represents the largest reduction of plastic by McDonald’s UK and Ireland to date.
Alongside this move, we will also be removing the plastic wrapping that each gift comes in from 2021, with paper packaging to be trialled later this year in its place. This will mean an additional 200 tonnes of plastic removed.
We are confident that these moves will make our Happy Meal even happier.
There is more that we can, and will do, however we are excited to be making these changes and want to thank you all for your enthusiasm, which has helped us to move further, faster.

Friday 27th March - home learning day 5
Well done for completing your first week of home learning! We've enjoyed seeing what some of you have been up to through looking at your photos, pictures and descriptions on Publisher on Purple Mash. Don't forget to click on 'Hand in' so we can see that you have definitely finished it. We look forward to seeing more of these over the next few days.
Mrs Bailey and Mrs Salisbury have challenged all of Owl class on TTRockstars. Click on 'Rockslam' and try to beat us!
We hope you all have a lovely weekend. We'll update the website again on Monday.

Thursday 26th March - home learning day 4
We're pleased to see that quite a few of you have had a go at the passive voice activity on Purple Mash. No one has achieved 100% yet though. Keep trying and you'll get a special mention on here if you get it all correct!
We have just added a publisher page on your 'To Dos'. This is for you to upload 2 photos to show us what you have been doing. We'd love to see photos of your bird if you have finished sewing it. You could also add a photo of you completing some of the other tasks; some exercise you have been doing; a cake you have baked or any thing else that shows you being creative. We look forward to seeing what you've been up to!
Here is the link for you to take quizzes on the books you have been reading at home. If you can't remember your login details just click on 'forgot user name' and then type in your surname and search.
The books you have at home won't have a quiz number inside them like they do at school so just type in the title of you book and you can search for the quiz this way.
We will log on regularly to see how well you are doing with your reading.
Wednesday 25th March - home learning day 3
Well done to the two extra children who have had a go at Factoroids on Purple Mash. We have set a new grammar activity on passive voice for you to have a go at until Monday. Keep trying until you get it all correct and then try to beat your score! Just click on your 'To Dos'.
Thank you to Alfie and Pheobe for your book reviews - very interesting. Remember to let us know how many points each book was worth.
The scores are looking good on Times Table Rockstars for those of you who have had a go.
Tuesday 24th March - home learning day 2
We've continued to look at Purple Mash and have seen that 16 children have now had a go at Factoroids: well done if you're one of those people! Out of the 54 children in year 6, what percentage of children is that? Thank you to Lexie and Phoebe for your book reviews.
Each day, those children in school have been taking part in Joe Wicks' 30 minute workout. If you haven't heard of him or need a reminder of where to find the workouts, please click on the link below. It is live at 9:00 every morning and should give you a great start to your home learning day. Alternatively, you can have a go at the previous workouts at a different time of day to suit you.

Monday 23rd March - day one of home learning!
Thank you to everyone who has been in to pick up their home learning pack. There are a few year 6 ones left. Please come to the office and look for the Owl or Leopard box if you haven't collected yours yet.
We hope you've made a start on your home learning tasks.
Well done to those of you that have had a go at Factoroids on Purple Mash. Jayden A. has the top score so far! We have one book review submitted so far too (well done Tilly) and look forward to receiving more soon.
