Welcome back from your Easter break. Now we are in the Summer months we are looking forward to enjoying better weather and using the outdoors to enhance our learning.
We will be thinking about traditional tales this term and are beginning with Hansel and Gretel. We will be thinking about sequencing stories, the characteristics of traditional tales and further developing our punctuation and spelling.
In D.T we will be designing and making our own 'gingerbread houses' using a variety of recyclable materials.
We will be continuing to practise the four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) within Numeracy so please continue to support your children to use their Maths in home activities.
Spellings will continue to come home each week. Please encourage your child to practise their spellings.
In PE we are going outside to develop our core games skills including throwing, catching and aiming. Please ensure that your child has the correct footwear for outdoor PE, trainers are preferable to black plimsols.
During May, the children will be sitting their end of Key Stage SATs. This should not be a stressful event and this is only part of the process of assessing achievement. You will be informed of the outcome of the assessments towards the end of the Summer term.
The class teachers in Year 2 are Mrs Carter (Polar Bear Class), Mrs Parker-Gorman (Llama Class) and Mr Hitchiner (Dolphin Class).
The class TAs are Mrs Buckley, Paula Pfledger, Mrs Rivers and Mrs Proudlock.
We are all thoroughly looking forward to working with you over the course of the year.
