Welcome to our new Smart School Council. This year we have launched a new way of running a school council.
Every child and every adult in our school is now a School Council member, this means our council can represent the views of all our pupils and staff. It gives children the opportunity to make their voices heard and feel part of the whole school community.
Now, instead of a few chosen children who get to take part in school council meetings and make decisions for the whole school, every class will hold their own class meetings and vote. In these class meetings the children get to discuss and make decisions on whole school issues, so in every meeting, every pupil in every class will discuss the same question and be able to have a say on the answer that we choose as a school. We’ll be having Class Meetings at least twice a term. For each meeting a different person will get the chance to run the meeting and someone else will get a chance to take the notes.
The school held its first meetings in week 2 of this term. The children had the opportunity to decide what theme they wanted this years Christmas hoops to be.
They chose 'A Christmas Film' with a whopping 36 votes!
In week 5, each class held their second meeting. Here are the results!
Class meeting Question: How could we improve lunchtimes?
An indoor space for clubs - 9
Calm room for upset children to go to - 20

The Communication team have met and talked about the results. They are now busy working on making things happen for the whole school. Watch this space!
This term we have introduced our new Communication Team. Each class in the school has one or two members on the Communication Team.
The team will help set the questions for the Class Meetings and count up all the answers. They will also run assemblies, write a newsletter, make posters and videos, update the website and noticeboards and generally do everything they can get to keep everyone informed and involved.
