In Firefly Class we work towards greater independence and developing social skills alongside fulfilling our educational targets. We love to spend lots of time out of the classroom learning about the world around us including visiting local parks and shops. As well as the usual literacy and numeracy, our days consist of sensory circuits to focus our mind and bodies, workboxes for independent learning and yoga . We also develop our attention skills using Attention Autism consisting of Kate's famous bucket of toys and activities in 20 minute sessions. Alongside these activities we also take part in weekly cooking, forest school and trips out.
Swimming sessions for Terms 5 & 6 are:
This term we are looking at 'Growth', here are some of the activities we will be doing:
Also throughout the term we will be continuing to practice telling the time, writing instructions as well as the usual sensory circuits and trips out in the community.
We have enjoyed a fun packed term full of learning how to tell the time, recall the days of the week and months of the year. We also read the book 'The owl who was afraid of the dark'. Fireflies have enjoyed making lots of yummy things in cooking and they especially enjoyed making their gifts for mother's day :)
Today we braved the cold weather and walked to Tesco to buy our ingredients for cooking. Whilst we were there we enjoyed the facilities and had our snack in the café :)
At forest school this week the children collected leaves for our autumn leaf hedgehogs. All the children had lots of fun. They also enjoyed their weekly hot chocolate and marshmallow. Jaydee and Oliver learnt how to light a fire too!
The children enjoyed making firework pictures using pipe cleaners and straws.
Our first trip to Whitfield Recreation ground.
