About Whitfield Aspen School

Whitfield Aspen School recognises the equality in rights and status of all pupils within. It recognises that all children have a variety of needs and will support them in meeting their needs and potential, promoting the philosophy of inclusive learning.

As a “School within a School”, we are an inclusive school which means that there is a general policy for the inclusion of children with PMLD, SLD and CLN within academic and social settings. Inclusion activities are assessed against the needs of the individual child. We believe this opportunity to be unique not only in Kent but also in the country as a whole. The inclusion ethos works right throughout the school and is very much a two way process with children from the main school and Aspen involved with each others learning.

Our mission is to motivate children to want to learn and to have the determination to reach their goals.  We will inspire children to meet challenges they encounter with confidence, now and in the future.  We will ALL succeed!

~~To fulfil our mission statement, our aims are:
• To be a safe, happy, caring community of learners
• To help all individuals regardless of their race, gender or disability to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to achieve their full potential in a rapidly changing world
• To develop understanding of and respect for a wide range of religious values, languages and cultural traditions and different ways of life
• To encourage an enjoyment of life-long learning
• To encourage positive parental and community involvement
• To promote healthy lifestyles
• To provide a curriculum that is stimulating, broad, balanced, innovative and creative
• To celebrate achievement
